Lucky Aiyedatiwa sworn in as Ondo governor

Inaugurating as the new governor of Ondo State is Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

On Wednesday, the swearing-in ceremony was held at the Government House in Alagbaka, Akure.

This came about as a result of the state governor of Germany, Rotimi Akeredolu, passing away on Wednesday at the age of 67.

The state government claims that prostate cancer was the cause of Akeredolu's death.

April 3, 2023 was the first of two distinct medical vacations that Akeredolu took, and July 10, 2023 was the second. He returned to the nation on September 7 and informed the state House of Assembly right away.

The governor reportedly battled prostate cancer before passing away in Germany on Wednesday, according to a statement made by the state's Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mrs. Bamidele Ademola-Olateju.

The statement was titled ‘ It Is a sad day in Ondo State’.

The statement read, “With a heavy heart, the Ondo State Government announces the passing of our beloved Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON.

“Mr. Governor peacefully departed from this world in the early hours of today, Wednesday, December 27, 2023. This tragedy has left behind a profound void in our hearts.

“Governor Akeredolu answered the eternal call while receiving medical treatment in Germany. He succumbed to complications arising from protracted prostate cancer.”

It mentioned that President Bola Tinubu had received a formal letter informing him of the governor's passing.
