Man caught defecating openly attacks Lagos official
A man who has not yet been named has been arrested on suspicion of attacking a worker for the Lagos State Environment and Water Resources while they were on the Lagos-Ibadan Motorway at Berger.
According to PUNCH Metro, the event took place early on Tuesday morning.
The employee, escorted by representatives of the Lagos State Environmental and Sanitation Corps, reportedly found the suspect urinating on the median beside the freeway.
The victim was attacked by the suspect, who also hurt him, in an effort to thwart the arrest.
A source privy to the incident in a chat with our correspondent said, “He was caught just like others but resisted arrest and decided to fight them. He hit one of the officials with an object on the head which caused him to bleed.”
He claimed that once the officials overcame the suspect, they imprisoned him in their van. On Tuesday, Tokunbo Wahab, the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, verified the occurrence on his X account and stated that the defendant had been charged and placed under remand in custody.
“One individual was arrested at Berger for injuring one of the civilians employed by the Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources while on duty at Berger. He has been remanded in prison custody and will appear again in court on 29th of October 2024,” he wrote.
