Man harasses black woman on a train, passenger intervenes
The horrifying moment a man appears to be abusing a black woman on a train is caught on a shocking social media video before another passenger intervenes to save her.
The footage shows the irate man violently attacking two young female passengers as the train speeds toward Sydney's central business area late at night.
The females rise from their chairs to the man's rants and pointed aggression.
The man wears wrap sunglasses, fingerless gloves, and a cap, and mumbles to one of the women.
After that, her buddy steps in between them and asks him to stop addressing her in this manner.
The man grows increasingly agitated while other passengers freeze in place.
However, a man with a black baseball cap approaches the girls and orders them to sit down.
"Let me sit there," he says as he takes the seat behind the upset traveller.
The man with the sunglasses yells, waves madly, and gestures at other travellers.
He then cries "police" repeatedly, to which another passenger responded, "Yeah, you'll see them."
The irate passenger then yelled after the two females as they fled, yelling something like, "Get the f*** away before I smack your f***ing neck in."
The man in the baseball cap then tells him bluntly, "You're not going to smack anyone."
The man then appears to assume the girls are Muslims and says, “F*** (their) god, f*** Islamic and your corruption, you b****,†before informing the passengers they are all under arrest.
“You’re not going to do nothing,†I repeated. Be quiet. The man who interrupted says, “You’re not going to do anything.â€
The upset passenger begins to reply, "I'm going to," but the man with the black cap once more interrupts him.
"No, no, no, no, you're going to respect everyone here," he replies.
The man in the black cap takes the brunt of the passenger's outburst by sitting behind him and controlling him for the duration of the journey.
"I have seen this same guy on a train to Central lately, he was cursing and carrying on in the same way.. so frustrating he's allowed to keep getting on trains and behaving like a w***er," one commenter on the original article noted.
"He must be doing the rounds," a different individual continued, "since someone else here saw him kicking off at Hornsby station."
Others who saw the video claimed to have crossed paths with the angry man, and several of them hypothesized that he suffered from PTSD or significant drug addiction.
Commenters immediately hailed the mysterious man in the black cap for intervening.
One individual wrote that the people who intervened reprimanded him and defused the explosive situation are the real legends.
I appreciate the larger man getting up, sitting, and keeping a presence. Another grateful traveller remarked, "He maintained everything in order.
Salutations to the holder of the black hat. Well done, sir," a second person said.
