Man jumps, drowns in Lagos river during suspected chase by cultists
In the Agility neighbourhood of Mile 12, Lagos State, a guy known only as Opeyemi is said to have died after jumping into a river while being pursued by supposed cultists.
On Saturday, September 12, the incident took place.
According to the source, Opeyemi was allegedly pursued by some people when he was on his way to buy something.
The informant said that before he attempted to flee by jumping into the river, the men eventually caught up to him and allegedly attacked him.
“Some people wanted to rescue him, but those chasing him prevented them from doing so.”
Opeyemi was subsequently said to have drowned. However, an anti-cultism advocacy platform, Naija Confra, gave a different account of the incident in a post.

According to the site, some locals reported Opeyemi leaped into the river by himself while under the influence of drugs, while others who allegedly saw the event claimed he was attacked and pursued.
