Man United's new signing: Hans Nijland says it's unprofessional
Hans Nijland, a former general manager of Groningen, criticized Manchester United player Antony and called him "unprofessional."
After the Dutch champions refused to let him transfer to Old Trafford, Antony was forced to leave his previous team, Ajax.
The Brazilian winger, who worked with Erik ten Hag again, cost Manchester United more than £82 million to hire.
Nijland said that Antony was unaware that he was bound by an agreement with Ajax and that this gave Ajax the power to make Antony stay, whether or not he wanted to.
Additionally, he advocated for Manchester United to recruit players to Old Trafford, where they may make much more money.
“The club has every right to hold you to it. Don’t forget the influence of agents, huh?†Nijland said on the Voetbal Primeur podcast.
“As an agent, you only need one Antony and you are a millionaire, it’s that simple.
"The pressure is huge, but I think it’s very unprofessional from players. I don’t understand it at all.â€
The Brazilian apologized to Ajax supporters for the way he departed the club after being unveiled at Old Trafford, but he believed that it was the correct choice for him.
