 Mayhem erupted in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital, on Saturday when over 20 people fighting for free food and gifts at a new generation church reportedly died in a stampede. According to The Nation, the church invited members of the public to its fourth edition of free gifts and food distribution on church grounds. The DAILY POST noted that the incident happened in the early hours of Saturday morning when a crowd stormed the church's gate and shoved it, creating a mess that led to the stampede. Details of the incident are still unclear at press time, but it has been revealed that numerous victims who sustained injuries have also been hospitalized.
