Bello Masari approves 100 million dedicated to school AGILE project
Katsina Governor, Aminu Bello Masari, has approved the disbursement of 50 percent of the N100 million earmarked for the Adolescent Girls' Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) schools project for their improvement plans to ensure priority in ensuring to develop the implementation of the activities.
The State Coordinator of the AGILE Project, Alhaji Shehu Mustapha, did this during the celebrations of the International Day of the African Child.
He told the journalists that the state government has already allocated N100 million for the project in the budget for carrying out some activities and so far N35 million has been released for the project.
He said: "We received all kinds of support from the Ministry whenever we submitted our inquiries to the Education Commissioner via the Permanent Secretary.
“All the other stakeholders and individual actors have also given us the necessary support.
“The project is scheduled to last four years, so June 2023 will mark the end of the first year of the project. All schools in the state have a chance to be selected.
“We invited 100 students; 50 boys and 50 girls and built its capacity on better education services for all, including government support, to be good leaders at school and stopping deviant behaviour at school, among other things.â€
The coordinator also called on communities to support the state government in ensuring access to quality education for all, adding that the government cannot do this alone. Education is for everyone.
He also implored wealthy individuals, civil society organizations, philanthropists and other community members to support the project to ensure the capacity building of the adolescent girls.
