Mbappe becomes PSG's record goal-scorer

With his team's 4-2 victory over Nantes at home, Kylian Mbappe has passed Zinedine Zidane to become Paris St. Germain's all-time leading scorer.

The 24-year-old Mbappe improved the record he shared with Edinson Cavani on Saturday by scoring his 201st goal in all competitions with PSG two minutes into extra time.

After the final buzzer, the club held a brief ceremony at which a large photograph of Mbappe was on display at Parc des Princes.

“It’s very special to be here. The last time I was here was to announce I was staying [extending his contract], it’s an honour to be here as the club’s top scorer,” said Mbappe. “It’s a privilege to be a PSG player, to play in this historic shirt, for the biggest club in France.”

PSG was up 2-0 after 17 minutes thanks to goals from Lionel Messi and an own goal by Jaouen Hadjam in the Champions League round of 16. PSG will travel to Bayern Munich the following week hoping to overturn a 1-0 first-leg deficit.

Ludovic Blas and Ignatius Ganago helped the Canaries even the score before the half.

However, Christophe Galtier's team secured all three points thanks to goals from Mbappe and Danilo with seconds remaining, giving them 63 points after 26 games.

Olympique de Marseille, who are in second place, will visit Stade Rennais on Sunday.
