Ministerial nominee, Balarabe Abbas, passes out during screening

On Wednesday, Balarabe Abbas Lawal, a ministerial candidate, passed out during screening on the Senate floor.

Lawal, who was obviously weary, inexplicably fell asleep while being questioned.

Sensible senators rushed to his aid and quickly dialled for assistance.

Immediately after the occurrence, the third Senate President, Godswil Akpabio, was overheard pleading for sugar and water to resuscitate the ministerial candidate.

“Water, water! Can you give him sugar and water? Can someone bring water and sugar? Please, call Dr Wale!” Akpabio exclaimed.

As the senators attempted to assist Abbas in taking a seat, he also asked the cameramen to leave the room.

At the time this story was written, he had been taken to the hospital, but his status is still unknown.

It was also unclear at first if there was medical assistance available, but the National Assembly is housed in a complex that boasts a fully equipped clinic.

Today's screening included Mr. Ayodele Olawande from Ondo State, Jamila Bio Ibrahim from Kwara State, and Abbas Lawal from Kaduna State.

The second candidate to be screened was Lawal.
