Missing boy found in Abuja church
Bright Simon, a seven-year-old child who was reported missing a month ago, was discovered at a church in the Gwagwa, an Abuja suburb, Tasha 1 neighbourhood.
It was stated that a mother had whisked the youngster away to the area to ask for prayers instead of their planned trip to her native state of Imo.
When reporting the event to City & Crime yesterday, the area's ward head, Dauda Bala, stated that the woman was first brought to the office of vigilantes before being turned over to the police.
Before the police were called in to calm things down, he claimed, young people began throwing stones at the vigilantes' headquarters.
The boy's father, Simon Akawu, told our reporter over the phone that one of his female neighbours who went to a local market was the first to alert his wife to the discovery.
He claimed that after they found the boy, they ran to the church. He claimed that on July 30, after his mother gave him her phone to charge, their son vanished.
He stated that the suspect said the boy was given to her by a reverend sister in Maitama, Abuja, who said the boy was abandoned and gave him to her for care.
Josephine Adeh, a spokesman for the FCT Police Command, was unavailable for comment regarding the event.
