Missing UNN student discovered dead
At the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) in Enugu State, a female student in her 100s has been discovered dead. According to reports, the deceased, identified as Favour Okenyi, was a student in the university's medical laboratory science department.
After attending her chemistry practical on Tuesday, she apparently vanished from sight.
Her body was discovered on Friday night inside the university grounds, outside the Eni-Njoku male dorm.
A video footage that claimed to show the corpse discarded inside a gutter has gone viral on the internet.
Some pupils claimed to have found Favour's lifeless body. The students inquired about the deceased's gender as they were recording the corpse.
The university's spokeswoman, Okwun Omeaku, confirmed the occurrence and stated that the revelation had surprised the administration of the school.
Omeaku said in a statement on Sunday that the university administration was working with law enforcement and the deceased's family to determine the circumstances surrounding her death.
He said that learning the truth about the circumstances surrounding the student's death will assist the university in preventing similar occurrences from happening again.
The spokesperson said: “The university administration is deeply saddened by the loss of our student and extends heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased for the tragic death of such a promising young student.
“We implore anyone in possession of useful information that could aid in the investigation to kindly reach out to the university administration.”
