"My commitment to saving Nigeria remains firm," Peter Obi declares as he resigns from PDP

Nigerians are concerned about the resignation of Peter Obi, former Anambra governor and presidential aspirant, from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday. Peter Obi decided to leave the PDP days before the party's presidential primary is due to take place. Obi, who announced his resignation in a letter addressed to the party chairman on Wednesday, said recent developments within the party have made it virtually impossible to continue to participate and make constructive contributions. “Our national challenges run deep and require that we all make great sacrifices to save our country. My commitment to saving Nigeria remains firm even if the route is different. Mixed reactions on Twitter have followed Mr Obi's exit from the PDP, with many tweeting what they think of his decision.

@Renoomokri“Did I not say it? If PDP had fielded @PeterObi, they would have LOST big time. His online followers made him too toxic in every region except the Southeast. They know themselves. Insulting and threatening. As if only their votes could have made him President!” Omokri wrote.”

@chizchio1, “When he #PeterObi said, ‘even if I lose at PDP primaries it doesn’t stop me from contesting for president,’ dey did not get the point, We don’t play politics of sharing money. Nigeria must be great again.”
