NAF airstrikes eliminate terrorists, destroy hideouts in Borno
According to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), it has carried out airstrikes on terrorist strongholds in Abbagajiri in Borno state's Timbuktu Triangle.
The air operation, which took place on January 8, targeted terrorist buildings and hidden logistics facilities in the region, according to a statement released on Saturday by Ehimen Ejodame, director of public relations and information at NAF headquarters.
According to Ejodame, the goal of the operation was to weaken the terrorists' capabilities and reshape the ground forces' battlefield. The area was successfully cleared for the ground troops' mission, according to the NAF spokesperson.
“The identified terrorist structures were decisively engaged and destroyed, denying the terrorists freedom of action, while a follow-up engagement neutralised armed elements observed converging on the location,” Ejodame said.
“Subsequent advances by ground troops into the area confirmed the effectiveness of the air strikes and validated the success of the joint air–land operation.”
Sunday Aneke, chief of air staff, discussed the air operation and stated that the NAF is dedicated to controlling the airspace in order to facilitate joint military operations.
