NAFDAC shuts fake cosmetic factory in Lagos

A Lagos-based factory purportedly manufacturing fake cosmetics was raided and sealed by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control.

NAFDAC officers reportedly stormed the unlawful facility at Benue Plaza, Trade Fair Complex, Lagos State, according to a statement posted on X.com on Tuesday.

Officers found a cache of unlicensed chemicals, packaging, and expired goods being repackaged for sale during the operation.

Approximately 1,200 cartons of counterfeit cosmetics, including well-known brands, were found during the investigation.

Subsequent research showed that the facility was manufacturing fake goods utilising mini-mixing containers, unlabelled chemicals, batch coding supplies, and thinners. The seized goods were estimated to have a street value of ?50 million.
