Nasarawa to pay N70,000 minimum wage
Abdullahi Sule, the governor of Nassarawa State, has said that the state is prepared to pay its government personnel the new N70,000 minimum salary.
When visiting the Correspondents' Chapel office in Nasarawa State on Tuesday in Lafia, Mr. Peter Ahemba, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Abdullahi Sule on Public Affairs, made this statement.
He said that paying civil officials the increased minimum salary will increase their productivity in addition to improving their wellbeing.
The minimum salary of N70,000 is no longer a news story. The payment of the specified sum to employees has been approved by President Ahmed Bola Tinubu.
“Gov. Abdullahi Sule administration is also ready to pay the N70,000 to civil servants in the state.
“The governor had made it clear that he is willing to pay the new minimum wage to civil servants in the state,” he said.
Given that some of their complaints were already being handled by the administration, the governor's aide made an appeal to the people to put an end to the nationwide demonstration and follow the path of dialogue and peace.
“The constitution has provided for citizens to exercise their feelings through peaceful protests. However, the government will not allow any form of criminality – looting of property in the guise of protest,” he said.
