NASU, SSANU, NAATS end warning strike, resume work on Monday

The current seven-day and three-day warning strikes will end at midnight on Sunday, respectively, according to the Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational Associated Institutions, and the National Association of Academic Technologists of the University.

For approximately a month, the JAC of SSANU and NASU had been alerting the government about their absence from the withheld salary that it started paying to the Academic Staff Union of Universities in February.

When the former President Muhammadu Buhari's administration implemented the "No Work, No Pay policy" against ASUU, SSANU, and NAATS in 2022, in response to their respective eight-month, four-month, and five-and-a-half-month strikes, their salaries were withheld.

NAATS joined as well, and on Wednesday it launched a three-day warning strike.

The National President of JAC of SSANU and NASU, Mr. Mohammed Ibrahim, stated that all unions would restart on Monday at a Zoom conference with journalists on Sunday.

But he bemoaned the fact that the unions' requests had not yet received a response from the administration.

According to Ibrahim, the FG has not paid the non-teaching workers. The FG will convene with the National Executive Council to determine the course of action to take next.
