NDLEA arrest Nollywood filmmaker over alleged drug trafficking
A Lagos socialite, suspected drug kingpin, and Nollywood filmmaker are among the people the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested in relation to a narcotics deal.
According to the agency, a number of high-profile arrests and drug seizures in the states of Lagos, Kwara, Kano, and Rivers marked the start of the year.
Femi Babafemi, the Director of Media and Advocacy for the NDLEA, made this information public in a statement on Sunday.
The statement claims that on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, NDLEA agents in Lagos took 61-year-old wanted drug kingpin Alhaja Aishat Feyisara Ajoke Elediye into custody at her home in the Okota neighbourhood. The same day, a truckload of illegal substances sent by her employees was intercepted, leading to this arrest.
Due to her leadership of a drug cartel based in Mushin, Lagos, Alhaja Ajoke, also known in the drug underworld as "Iya Ruka," had long concealed her true name and remained on the NDLEA's wanted list.
When NDLEA agents acting on intelligence stopped a white Isuzu truck transporting 44 jumbo sacks containing 1,540 kilogrammes of imported cannabis, her cover was exposed. Abideen Adio, 41, one of her employees, was at the wheel of the truck.
After the interception, she was detained by NDLEA agents who raided her hiding place at 33 Adebayo Oyewole Street, off Ago Palace Way, Okota.
