NDLEA arrests two sisters with Indian hemp in Katsina
Tuesday in Katsina, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency paraded two sisters and the spouse of one of them in front of the media for having six kilograms of Indian hemp.
The 45-year-old woman, Rabi Musa, was detained for having three kilograms of Indian hemp, according to Mohammed Bashir, the drug agency's commander in Katsina State.
He claimed that in collaboration with her sister Zainab Musa and her husband, Rabi was helping her now-wanted husband market the illegal substance.
He claimed that Zainab and her husband were also detained for having three more kg of Indian hemp.
The two other suspects were apprehended as a result of the arrest of Rabi, according to Bashir, who also promised that her evading husband would be apprehended shortly.
He pledged that the three individuals who had already been detained will face charges.
He attributed the high rate of divorce cases in Katsina State to drug misuse and urged parents to seriously consider the results of drug tests conducted on their prospective sons-in-law.
He also argued that rather than being influenced by riches, parents should demand drug-free certifications from prospective sons-in-law before proposing marriage to their daughters.
In response to inquiries from reporters, 45-year-old Rabi admitted to the crime but said that, in order to seem as a faithful wife, she was merely following her husband's orders.
She begged for forgiveness and cautioned ladies and parents against suitors who requested their daughters' hands in marriage.
The NDLEA detained four further suspects in a vehicle carrying outdated ammunition, Bashir also informed reporters.
They were eventually identified as auto thieves who held the senior police officer, the owner of the car, at gunpoint while robbing him.
“A few days ago, three other suspects, artisans, were nabbed on the Kano-Katsina Highway with a car suspected to have been stolen in Jos,’’ Bashir said.
