NDLEA nabs 34 drug suspect in FCT

34 people were recently detained by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), FCT Command, during a sweep operation against illegal drug dens in Abuja, the capital of the country.

This information was revealed in an interview with NAN on Thursday in Abuja by the agency's FCT Commander, Kabir Tsakuwa.

Tsakuwa claimed that the operation was required to fight drug misuse, particularly as Nigeria gets ready to transition to a new administration.

He stated that "Operation Tsaro" was launched by the command on May 8 in order to close down drug dens and capture dealers throughout the FCT.

The commander said that the agents had been successful in seizing a number of illegal narcotics, including Methamphetamine, Tramadol, Codeine, Rohypnol, and Cannabis Sativa.

Torabora, Dei-dei, Wuse Zone 4, Wuse Zone 3, Banex, Garki Village, Area 1, Gwarimpa (Village, 3rd Avenue), Abattoir in Karu, Gwagwalada, Kabusa, and Kuchigoro IDP Camp were among the drug hotspots he listed as having been busted.

"While some of the arrested individuals have been charged and taken to court, others who are users are undergoing counselling sessions,” Tsakuwa added.
