NDLEA nabs 60 suspect at Abuja drug party

During a drug party held in the Federal Capital Territory on Friday, agents of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency detained no fewer than sixty people.

There were twenty-five men and thirty-five women among the suspects who were taken into custody at the party, which was allegedly planned by Stanley Ikechukwu.

The NDLEA's spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, stated in a statement on Sunday that at least six individuals were detained at the location with various substances.

The statement read in part, “In Abuja, NDLEA operatives on Friday night disrupted a drug party dubbed ‘Go hard or Go Home. Pick Your Poison,’ where 60 suspects comprising 25 males and 35 females were arrested at an apartment in Sun City estate in the Federal Capital Territory. The raid followed credible intelligence about the drug party organised by one Stanley Ikechukwu who was arrested at the venue.

“At least six of the suspects: Victoria Adoga, Hamza Yari, Joanne Joy, Socchima Valentine, Jago Imole and Charles Indobuibisi were arrested with different quantities of ecstasy and cannabis.”

Babafemi said that 20 of the suspects who tested negative for drugs were given unconditional parole by Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (retd.), the chairman of the anti-drug agency.

According to him, 33 more people who tested positive for illegal drugs would be released on bail and reported to the agency's FCT command on Monday in order to start counselling and treatment.

Babafemi added that 6,125 codeine boxes worth N7.3 billion were seized by agency agents.
