NDLEA officer killed by suspected drug dealers in Ondo
In Ondo State, a National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) officer was slain by suspected illegal drug dealers. During a raid on an apartment in the Ita'nla neighborhood of Ondo town on Tuesday, the agency's Ondo Command officer was shot and killed.
In a phone conversation with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Akure, Mr. Adebowale Lawal, the Ondo State Commissioner of Police, ve
rified the occurrence.
Lawal reported that a single-barreled firearm had been found and that four suspects had been taken into custody in relation to the crime.
“Immediately it happened, we reinforced some of our officers to the scene.
“We have arrested four suspects who are now in our custody.
“We have also recovered a single barrel gun, and investigation is ongoing to bring the culprits to book.
“The remains of the officer have been deposited at hospital morgue,” he said.
Additional information on the incident was not provided by the police commissioner.
According to other sources, NDLEA agents were shot at when they broke into a building in Ita'nla to retrieve drugs that were kept in the apartment's ceiling.
