NDLEA seizes N1.1 billion worth of codeine in Rivers
A total of 338,200 bottles of codeine-based syrup with a street value of over N1.1 billion have been seized by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
Femi Babafemi, the director of communications and advocacy for the NDLEA, said in a statement released in Abuja on Sunday that the seizures took place at the Port Harcourt Ports Complex in Onne, Rivers, between Thursday and Friday.
He claimed that once the CIA analysed intelligence, the drugs were found in two containers that were on its watchlist.
According to Mr. Babafemi, NDLEA agents, the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), and other security agencies jointly inspected the containers and found the illegal consignments.
