During a series of operations across Lagos, Edo, Niger, Delta, Ondo, Gombe, Imo, and the Federal Capital Territory, agents of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have seized over 6,000 kg of cannabis and over 1.3 million pills of tramadol and other opiates.

According to the agency, the total street value of the seizures exceeds N3.4 billion.

The discovery of 1,200 packages of Canadian Loud, a powerful cannabis strain weighing 603.75 kg and worth N1.81 billion, at the Tin-Can Island Port in Lagos, was one of the significant discoveries.

A statement signed on Sunday by NDLEA Director of Media and Advocacy Femi Babafemi states that on Wednesday, September 16, his agents, the Nigeria Customs Service, and other security agencies jointly examined the shipment, which had arrived from Montreal, Canada, on September 12.

The drugs were found hidden in 31 black giant bags that were stacked in a 40-foot container and placed inside two Toyota Sienna cars.

A 49-year-old man who allegedly pretended to be a senior police officer in order to avoid security checks while trafficking illegal substances was apprehended by NDLEA agents in a linked operation in Delta State.

With 292.48 kg of skunk hidden inside his silver Toyota Sienna bus, the culprit was apprehended on September 16 near Asaba along the Benin-Onitsha Motorway.

In order to evade examination at checkpoints, the suspect allegedly used a fake police identification card and pretended to be a Deputy Superintendent of Police, according to the agency's investigation.

In relation to the operation, another suspect was also taken into custody.
