New Telegram Update: Admins can now control use of custom reactions

Group administrators can now decide whether custom reactions are allowed in their groups, thanks to the latest update.

The encrypted messaging service Telegram has revealed that it will soon be releasing an update that will allow users more emoji options for expressing their emotions, including limitless reactions and emoji statuses.

According to the firm, premium customers can choose from an infinite number of unique emojis for their reactions. They can now add up to three reactions per message, making it simpler to select from the tens of thousands of emojis available.

"All users now have access to dozens of reactions - including those that were previously only available with Telegram Premium," the company said in a blog post.

"To accommodate all the new emojis, we have redesigned the reaction panel, making it expandable. The reactions you use frequently will show up at the top," it added.

Both group and one-on-one chats can now use these changes to reactions.

Now that animated emoji statuses are available, premium users may swiftly let others know how they are feeling or what they are up to.

"This custom status takes the place of your Premium Premium Badge in the chat list, in your profile and in groups," the company said.

Users can select from an infinite number of custom emojis or one of seven basic statuses that change colour to match various Telegram themes. The top of the page will include the most popular choices for working, sleeping, travelling, and more.

"Tap the premium badge at the top of your chat list or go to settings to change your status. Press and hold an emoji to set a status for a specific duration," as per Telegram.

"Anyone can use Telegram's open emoji platform to upload custom packs with unique art styles and characters for Telegram Premium users," it added.

Users who often log out and back in can now get login codes by email, Sign in with Apple or Google, or by using their email address.
