New Version of HomePod may be released later in 2022, Kuo declares
A new tweet from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggests Apple could release a new version of the HomePod, but perhaps without a radical redesign.
A new HomePod may be released later in 2022
After Apple discontinued the full-size HomePod, speculation circulated that Apple might be resurrecting the overpriced product. Ming-Chi Kuo has however offered new information that suggests Apple could release a new version of HomePod in late 2022 or early 2023.
Kuo did not specify what type of HomePod it would be or how it would vary from the existing HomePod mini. He just shares that Apple is still figuring out how to succeed in the smart speaker market.
The HomePod mini hasn't been updated since its debut in November 2020, except to add new colours. From the information that was been gathered, it is hoped that whatever Apple releases will at least be a new variant of the product rather than a new colour variant.
Ming-Chi Kuo declared that there might not be much hardware design innovation in the new version of the Homepod in 4Q22-1Q23. "Smart speakers are undoubtedly one of the essential elements of the home ecosystem, but I think Apple is still figuring out how to succeed in this market".
