Niger state governor Mohammed Bago orders police station demolition
Mohammed Bago, the governor of Niger State, has made preparations to destroy the Chanchaga police station in Minna.
During his debut speech on Monday at the Minna trade show facility, Bago made this claim.
Bago declared that his first task would be to designate the police station for demolition, which would take place at a later time.
The police station, he said, was obstructing the water pipeline, and he promised that it would be marked for demolition as soon as the next president was inaugurated.
“Priority will be given to portable drinking water, as we leave this venue, we have a police station sitting on our water pipeline, we will mark it for demolition because we must provide portable drinking water for our peopleâ€.
He promised the populace that his administration was committed to fighting state insecurity. In order to protect people's lives and property, he pledged to defend the constitutional principle of security and stressed the importance and urgency of the situation.
He further promised the populace that his administration would combat state-wide instability with the rigour and seriousness it merited, stressing the importance of security and the preservation of people's lives and property.
“Security is a serious matter and we will tackle it with the intensity and urgency it deserves as enshrined in our constitution therefore we shall boldly defend that constitutional tenet and ensure that security will be given premium in our administrationâ€.
Governor Bago made it clear that his government will change from previous norms, aiming to take a novel approach to governance.
He stated that it would not be “business as usual, but rather business unusual.â€
The governor further demonstrated his commitment to empowering youth by declaring that 90% of his cabinet would be made up of people under 30.
