Niger state leaves intending pilgrims stranded in Minna
Pilgrims from the state of Niger have been stranded at Bosso Camp for the past three days, two days before the end of the airlift of pilgrims to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
It was noted that the Saudi Arabian authorities had earmarked Tuesday this week for the completion of the airlift for pilgrims to the Holy Land.
According to the DAILY POST, the State Pilgrims would now be flown from Abuja Airport due to the inability to airlift the State Pilgrims from Minna Airport.
Some of the travellers lamented the situation, accusing the Niger state government and Pilgrims Welfare Board of a casual attitude towards the planning process of Hajj operations in the state.
However, they appealed to the competent authorities to intervene urgently in the matter so that they can meet the deadline set by the Holy Land authority.
One of the intended pilgrims, who spoke anonymously, criticized the attitude of the board and accused them of actually withholding details of the pilgrimage information.
The pilgrim said: “Some of us cannot make it to Saudi Arabia due to visa and documentation issues unknown to the victims. That is very sad and unfair.â€
Inspections have shown that states such as Adamawa, Borno, Ebonyi, Kaduna, Lagos, Kogi, Sokoto, Enugu, Oyo and others have flown their pilgrims to the Holy Land, even many of the pilgrims have been there for almost a month.
