Nigeria Army destroys IPOB headquarters in Imo
The Nigerian army claims that its forces, together with those of sister agencies, have demolished the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) headquarters in Mother Valley, Orsu council area, Imo state.
Force commander of Joint Task Force Southeast, Operation Udo Ka, Hassan Dada, gave a speech on Friday at Eke Ututu, Orsu Local Government Area, Imo.
According to the commander, the forces liberated and cleared the towns of Orsumoghu and Lilu in the Ihiala and Ekwusigo LGAs of Anambra state, as well as Ihiteukwa, Eke Ututu, and Ihittenansa in Imo.
He said that the headquarters, which was the final IPOB bastion, covered the Imo and Anambra local government areas of Orsu and Ihiala.
“It is about 5,000 feet below sea level,” Dada said.
He continued by saying that the well-hidden forest functioned as both the military council's headquarters and the prescribed group's command and control centre, providing them with good protection from aerial monitoring.
He said that the military exploded and retrieved numerous improvised explosive devices (IEDs) during the Thursday operation, along with a variety of impediments that were removed.
He added that the military also encountered IPOB members, killing and subduing many of them while sending others who had sustained varied degrees of gunshot wounds running into the nearby bushes.
