Six female students from the Federal University of Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA) and a commercial driver who had been kidnaped in Katsina State were saved by soldiers from Sector 2, Operation Fansan Yamma. 

After responding to a distress call about an attack on a commercial vehicle heading from Kaduna to Katsina, troops rescued the victims on Monday nite along the Daye–Malumfashi road in the state's Danmusa Local Government Area.

A statement on the operation stated that the kidnappers were forced to abandon their captives and escape when the forces got on the scene quickly.

The driver and the six pupils were saved unharmed.

Before being turned over to designated personnel for reconnection with their families and the university administration, the rescued victims underwent initial security screening and required medical tests.

According to the military, the operation was successful because the troops responded to the distress call quickly.

The statement further stated, "Operation FANSAN YAMMA is conducting ongoing security operations across the region aimed at protecting communities and rescuing victims of kidnapping and other criminal activities."
