A Nigerian cleric wanted by Cameroonian authorities has gone into hiding, following the discovery of a mummified body buried beneath a concrete slab at a house connected to his church in Yaoundé.

The body was discovered on September 19 at around nine in the morning by Nkoabang Special Police Station officials as part of an ongoing investigation into Kedi Samuel Kenechukwu, also known as Ekedi Samuel, according to the Cameroon Tribune on Tuesday.

Security authorities are currently seeking Kenechukwu, the founder of Mercy of God Ministry, on charges of kidnapping, arrest, and human trafficking.

The case has been covered by a number of Cameroonian news organisations, including Camer.Kenechukwu is being referred to as "a Nigerian prophet operating in Cameroon since 2018."

The Cameroon Tribune reports that at the Nkoabang property, detectives found a white-and-gold coffin buried roughly 1.5 meters below a concrete slab.

The body was said to be in a mummified form.

“The lid is broken. Inside, a body, a lady at first sight, dressed in a traditional blue outfit with gold embroidery, in a state of mummification, rests on a padding. This is not a normal grave,” the newspaper said.

According to the Cameroon Tribune, detectives discovered the hidden subterranean chamber when locals vandalised portions of the property.

Security personnel were still awaiting permission to carry out additional site searches for any remains at the time of the newspaper's article.

The deceased's name and the circumstances surrounding their death were still unknown.

The discovery was made around ten days after the identical Nkoabang home was searched on September 9.

Five cars, several hundred kg of food, working freezers, and roughly thirty rooms were purportedly discovered by authorities during the operation.

Additionally, they found a pit that was roughly two meters deep, albeit its purpose was unknown at the time.
