Nine apprehended for open defecation and urination in Lagos
Nine people were apprehended by Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps officials after they were observed participating in open defecation in the state's Berger region.
This was revealed in a post on X.com on Saturday by Tokunbo Wahab, the state's commissioner for the environment and water resources.
He wrote, “Nine individuals were arrested for open urination and defecation at Berger last night.”
Wahab has previously revealed that 17 people were taken into custody at Berger on Thursday night for failing to use the pedestrian bridge and for openly urinating and fecesing.
The state government is working to keep the environment cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable for its citizens, and one aspect of that work is its zero-tolerance policy on open defecation.
In an effort to put an end to open defecation, the Lagos State Ministry of Environment and Water Resources recently started cleaning up the Ojodu-Berger highway median.
