NNPP supporters protest against appeal court verdict in Kano
On Wednesday in Kano, a few New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) supporters demonstrated against the ruling of the Appeal Court that removed Governor Abba Yusuf.
In a unanimous decision on Friday, a three-member panel of the Court of Appeal led by Moore Adumein proclaimed Nasiru Gawuna of the APC the victor of the state's 18 March gubernatorial election.
The demonstrators left an open field near BUK Road after praying, expressing their displeasure with the court's decision and demanding justice and fairness for the governor.
Following the publication of the Certified True Copy of the ruling, which contains several incoherent statements, there were protests.
After the police fired several rounds of tear gas to scatter the protestors, the demonstration came to an end at Gidan Murtala on the BUK road.
After the ruling by the Appeal Court, the police outlawed any kind of celebration or protest because they were afraid of violent altercations between NNPP and APC supporters.
The police issued a warning a few days ago, claiming to have discovered a plot by ruling party supporters to interfere with the case's outcome.
