North Central Coordinator of TSO, Oniyangi, Says APC Defeat in Osun Will Not Affect Tinubu's Victory
Tinubu Support Organization's North-Central Coordinator Mallam Yinka Oniyangi said the defeat of Osun state governor Adegboyega Oyetola at the weekend against opposition People's Democratic Party candidate Senator Ademola Adeleke in the Osun state gubernatorial election is no big deal, and the chances of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the All Progressive Congress presidential candidate in the 2023 election, will not be affected.
PDP candidate for Osun state governor Adeleke was declared the winner of the Osun state gubernatorial election by the Independent National Electoral Commission after defeating Oyetola.
Adeleke received 403,371 votes while Oyetola received 375,027 votes in the hard-fought election.
TSO's North Central Coordinator Oniyangi, who hosted members of the Tinubu support group and APC stakeholders in Ilorin, Kwara state on Sunday, said the APC candidate's defeat in the Osun governorship election will not affect Tinubu's rise as the winner of next year's presidential election.
He said: “What happened in the Osun governorship election is a lesson for all of us, but measuring Asiwaju Tinubu's accountability differs from the state's measurement given his success when he was Lagos state governor. I am very confident that this will have no impact, especially in the 2023 presidential election.
“Osun State politics is about accountability and governor performance. Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu will be judged on his past accomplishments as Lagos State Governor and the narrative has not changed. He has the 5Cs.
“What are the 5Cs? He has the capacity, capability, consistency, commitment and creativity. These five Cs can rest assured that the narrative will not change. We also need to measure where we were before and where we are today. What is happening in Nigeria today is global. Nobody is perfect. I can tell you that APC did well.
“You cannot separate a person from his lifestyle. I'm here today to celebrate with my supporters. I cannot separate my identity from my company where I earn my income, my identity as the North Central Coordinator for the Tinubu support organization. People will take your opportunity to sell their brand as well.
"We are raising people's awareness of the need to vote for our candidate, Asiwaju Tinubu, and awareness-raising is ongoing and we will do more," he said.
