North Korea refutes shipping ammunition to Russia
Russia was not given any weaponry or ammunition, according to North Korea.
Pyongyang defence ministry said that Washington and "hostile forces" had disseminated rumours about arms deals in an effort to damage North Korea's reputation.
According to a senior official at the ministry's equipment office, "We have never shipped weapons or ammunition to Russia previously, and we do not plan to export them," a statement was released on Thursday by the state news agency KCNA.
John Kirby, a spokesman for the White House National Security Council, mentioned earlier this month that Pyongyang may sell Moscow millions of rockets and artillery shells.
He asserted that the United States lacked proof that any sales had really occurred.
According to military experts, there are still acute supply shortages for the Russian military in Ukraine, most likely as a result of export restrictions and sanctions.
According to a report released last week by British intelligence analysts, Russia is "probably definitely progressively sourcing armaments" from other countries that have been sanctioned, including Iran and North Korea.
Since Moscow invaded Ukraine in February, a move that mostly incited indignation in the West, North Korea, which is largely isolated, has vowed its support for Russia.
International sanctions on Pyongyang are severe due to its nuclear weapons programme.
