North Korea sentences two teenage boys to hard labour for watching K-drama

On Thursday, two adolescent guys from North Korea were given a 12-year hard labour term for viewing Korean dramas.

The lads are seen being handcuffed in front of a sizable group of students at an outdoor stadium, according to the BBC.

The term "Korean drama," or "K-drama," refers to television shows produced in South Korea. It appears that the series is set in 2022.

The video includes a narrator saying, “The rotten puppet regime’s culture has spread even to teenagers. They are just 16 years old, but they ruined their own future,” BBC reports.

North Korea presently forbids the importation of South Korean entertainment, including television series.

But some people are prepared to risk serious consequences in order to watch K-dramas, which are very popular all over the world, especially in Nigeria.

Netflix Nigeria's most viewed series in 2022 is the Korean drama "Alchemy of Souls."
