NSCDC arrest eight suspects for vandalism in Abuja

Eight people have been taken into custody by the Federal Capital Territory Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps on suspicion of damaging public property in different areas of Abuja.

As part of a continuous effort to fight vandalism in the FCT, the arrests were made.

Olusola Odumosu, the commandant of FCT Command, revealed in Abuja on Wednesday that the suspects were captured as a result of a coordinated effort by the Critical National Assets and Infrastructure Tactical Team and the NSCDC's covert agents who had been keeping an eye on the capital city.

Around 2:10 a.m. on Saturday, the first set of four suspects was taken into custody at Idu Layout CITEC after they were found in possession of vandalised solar panel poles.

Sani Garba, Umar Aminu, Adekunle Oluwatoyin Eniola, and Emmanuel John are the accused; they are from the states of Kano, Osun, and Enugu, respectively.

Around 1:30 am on Sunday, four more individuals were taken into custody while trying to move five damaged street light poles along the Bannex-Gishiri axis. Hosea Christopher, Ali Musa, John Sylvester, and Idris Suleiman are the suspects; they are from the states of Kaduna and Katsina.

The accused were found in possession of more than forty iron rods, one solar panel pole, and five huge street light poles.
