Three people in Ondo State have been taken into custody by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps on charges of stealing armoured cables and engaging in illicit mining.
This was said in a statement issued in Akure on Wednesday by Daniel Aidamenbor, the state NSCDC public relations officer.
Aidamenbor revealed that two suspects, “Modashiru Nasiru, 18, and Hassan Yaya, 19, were arrested on August 13 for engaging in unlicensed mining activities in the Oke-Igbo, Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo areas of the state.”
He said that Aloa Segun, the third suspect, had been caught for allegedly stealing armoured cables.
According to Aidamenbor, the suspect turned up with armoured cables, recline cables, and a generator worth N3.3 million over the course of the investigation. He further said that as soon as the investigations were over, the suspects would face legal action.
