NSCDC arrests 76 suspects holding same-sex wedding in Gombe
At least 76 individuals have been detained by the Gombe State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in connection with their suspected involvement in the planning of a same-sex wedding celebration.
This statement was made by the Gombe NSCDC Public Relations Officer, Buhari Sa'ad, as he introduced the suspects to the media at the command's headquarters in Gombe.
Sa'ad said that NSCDC operatives raided the area and stopped the event in its tracks.
“They were arrested at Duwa Plaza along Bauchi-Gombe Expressway while holding a homosexual birthday, and they had plans to hold a same-sex wedding before our men raided the scene,†he stated.
Sa’ad said further: “Fifty-nine males were arrested, 21 willfully confessed to being homosexuals, and 17 females present at the scene were also picked up. They will be charged to court to answer for their crime, which is a social vice; a crime in Gombe State.â€
