Prospective corps members have been cautioned by the National Youth duty Corps that they would not be mobilized for national duty without receiving approval from the National Electronic Registration Database (NERD).

The warning coincides with the program's ongoing plans to mobilize a new group of potential corps members while stepping up measures to guarantee their safety while traveling to orientation camp.

The NYSC said that NERD clearance is now required for all potential corps members in a public announcement posted on its official X account on Monday.

In order to prevent delays in mobilization, the program encouraged potential corps members to finish the process as soon as possible.

Additionally, it warned that mobilization into the national service program might be delayed if the clearance was not obtained.

“This is to inform PCMs (Prospective Corps Members) that without NERD clearance, no NYSC. Get your NERD clearance early. Avoid delays in your mobilisation.”

The NYSC reiterated that NERD clearance is required for all PCMs. No NYSC, no NERD clearance!

The order indicates a tougher verification regime as preparations proceed for the next orientation exercise, even though the scheme did not include any further information regarding the approval process in the notice.

The most recent advise, which urges institutions and qualified graduates to finish all required paperwork prior to the orientation exercise, was released just hours after the NYSC announced the mobilization of another batch of potential corps members for the 2026 Batch "B" service year.
