OAU increases tuition fees
The tuition that both new and returning students must pay to the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State, have undergone some changes.
The university said that new students in the faculties of arts, law, and humanities will pay N151,200 while returning students in the same faculties will pay N89,200 in a press release by its public relations officer, Abiodun Olarewaju.
The tuition for new students in the College of Health Sciences and Pharmacy faculties is N190,200, while the tuition for returning students is N128.200.
The institution emphasized that a fair and balanced pricing structure throughout the university's faculties is ensured by the fee change, which will be in force starting with the 2023–2024 academic session.
The OAU has joined a few other federal colleges that have recently raised tuition rates with this statement.
The action follows a demonstration by University of Lagos students against the institution's increase in tuition costs.
Students from both universities called on concerned parties to support them as their counterparts at the University of Jos also demonstrated in force against the increase in tuition fees.
