Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State, and Musa Kwankwaso, the governor of Kano State, have officially joined the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

Shortly after a private meeting with NDC leaders, Obi, the Labour Party's (LP) 2023 presidential candidate, and Kwankwaso, the former presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP), received the NDC membership cards to applause from fans.

Seriake Dickson, the party's national chairman and former governor of Bayelsa State, welcomed the two leaders who had left the African Democratic Congress (ADC) into the organization.

Ahead of the federal elections in 2027, opposition figures are continuing to realign politically.
