Ogun First Lady distributes food, cash to nursing mothers

To improve the welfare of women and children in the state, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, the wife of the governor of Ogun State, has given food and cash to more than 200 nursing moms.

As per the statement released on Saturday, Mrs. Abiodun gave the gifts at an awareness session that her office arranged in honour of Breastfeeding Week, with the subject "Closing the Gap: Breastfeeding Support for All." The event took place in the state's Ikenne Local Government Area at the Ilisan Primary Healthcare Centre in Ilisan Remo.

The First Lady reaffirmed her commitment to supporting breastfeeding by raising awareness of the benefits of exclusive breastfeeding among women, families, and the general public through community engagements, education, and sensitisation campaigns.

‘’Despite the overwhelming evidence supporting its importance, significant gaps remain in the availability of breastfeeding support. Many mothers, particularly those in underserved communities, face challenges that hinder their ability to breastfeed successfully.”

She mentioned Through extensive nutrition education programs and bi-annual vitamin A supplementation, Governor Dapo Abiodun has achieved great progress in boosting maternal and child health. These efforts have positively improved breastfeeding rates.

The spouse of the governor committed to stepping up efforts to reduce the breastfeeding disparity by emphasising comprehensive assistance for all moms, irrespective of their situation.

She declared that her office would work with medical professionals, local authorities, and Civil Society Organisations to establish a setting that would support and promote breastfeeding.

The First Lady urged corporate entities, development partners, and other interested parties to work together to complete the assignment.
