The Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, on Wednesday, said the government of Governor Dapo Abiodun remains committed to enhancing access to excellent education across the state.
Arigbabu said that more than 1,474 classrooms had been built and renovated around the state, with an additional 332 projects still in progress, at a press conference on the ministry's accomplishments.
“The government has also supplied 8,800 two-seater desks and benches for public primary schools, 3,900 two-seater desks and benches for junior secondary schools, and 2,395 pieces of teachers’ furniture for both primary and junior secondary schools,” he said.
According to Arigbabu, the state has hired 3,000 instructors to fill staffing shortages, and the elimination of fees in elementary and secondary education has greatly increased enrolment and decreased the number of children who are not in school.
He highlighted initiatives to enhance technical education, revealing that all eight government-owned technical colleges are being renovated to become top-tier facilities for vocational training.
