Ogun postpones 10th Assembly inauguration
Ogun State is in disarray after the House of Assembly abruptly postponed the swearing-in of the recently elected lawmakers.
On Tuesday, June 13, at 10 a.m., the Ogun ninth Assembly's inaugural ceremony was originally planned.
According to our correspondent, those from far constituencies were travelling to Abeokuta for the crucial statutory event, while the members-elect and their supporters were already ready for the inauguration ceremony.
Deji Adeyemo, the Clerk of the House, abruptly announced the program's postponement without providing any explanation.
He said the opening of the ninth Assembly in Ogun would now take place on June 20, 2023.
“The Holding of the First Session of the Tenth Assembly of the Ogun State Legislature has been postponed to Tuesday, 20th June, 2023.
"This is according to a release by the Clerk of the Assembly, Mr. Deji Adeyemo, stating that any inconvenience caused by the postponement is regretted,â€
People in Ogun have started to question what could have caused the postponement because there was no explanation given for it.
Due to the event's delay, Ogun State won't have any functioning legislators until June 20.
