Okada operation, night clubbing banned by Ondo govt
The Ondo State Government has issued an order prohibiting nightclubs in all 18 of the state's local government areas as part of security measures.
The government also outlawed the practice of okada, or commercial motorcycle operation, throughout the state.
This information was provided in a statement released on Tuesday in Akure, the state's capital, by Akogun Adeleye, the governor of Akure's special adviser on security matters.
According to the statement, the most recent order mandates that nightclubs close their doors at 12 a.m., while okada is now open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day.
The statement read, “In furtherance of the current administration’s efforts to rid the state of criminally-minded persons or groups, law enforcement agencies are to resume enforcement on the ban on motorcycle operations outside 6 am-6 pm, night club activities beyond midnight, use of vehicles with tinted glasses without a permit, unregistered vehicles, use of sticker number plates in lieu of car dealership approved stickers.
“Accordingly, all security agencies are hereby enjoined to impound all such motorcycles and vehicles while the owners or riders would be prosecuted.
“The Government of Ondo State encourages all vehicle and motorcycle owners to register their vehicles/motorcycles as defaulters would be made to face the full wrath of the law accordingly.â€
The statement emphasised that the safety of people's lives and property in Ondo State remained a major priority for the Akeredolu-ed administration.
