Okada riders kill policeman in Lagos
On Wednesday afternoon, a police officer was slain at Cele Bus Stop on the Oshodi-Apapa Highway in Lagos following a fight with riders of commercial motorcycles, or "Okada riders."
The Nation learned that three guns confiscated from police officers were also hauled off by the enraged Okada riders.
The Okada riders, who numbered around 100, started running toward Mile 2 end shortly after the officer was killed.
They were armed with cutlasses, daggers, large clubs, and other weapons, as seen by the nation.
They were charging at oncoming traffic and pedestrians.
Many ducked to avoid being attacked by motorcycle riders brandishing weapons.
A police convoy that appeared to have been strengthened to fight the Okada riders was seen by The Nation.
The police chased the Okada riders toward the conclusion of Mile 2 in around six different vehicles.
