Omoyele Sowore reunites with family in the US five years after travel ban
Omoyele Sowore, an activist for democracy and the African Action Congress's presidential candidate for the general elections of 2023, has reconnected with his family in the United States following the Federal Government of Nigeria's dismissal of the treasonable felony case brought against him.
Pictures of Mr. Sowore, his wife, daughter, and son that were shared on his official social media profiles on Saturday gave details of the reunion.
After spending five years apart from his family in the United States, Sowore called his original detainment as "unlawful, unjust, and inhuman detention by the corrupt Nigerian political system since August 2019." He left Nigeria at precisely 11 p.m. on Friday night.
He declared he would sue the Federal Government of Nigeria and the Department of State Services for N100 billion, claiming they had wasted time and money, caused financial and psychological harm to him and his family, businesses, wife, children, and extended family, and that his younger brother Olajide Sowore had been assassinated in 2021.
