Ondo Amotekun arrest 31 suspects
In Ondo State's 18 Local Government Areas, the Western Nigeria Security Network (Amotekun Corps) reports that it has taken 31 persons into custody on various charges.
This was disclosed on Wednesday in Akure by Mr. Adetunji Adeleye, Commander of the Amotekun Corps, as he paraded the suspects before reporters.
According to Adeleye, the suspects were detained on suspicion of crimes such as alleged kidnapping, unlawful gun possession, and shop and house breaking.
The corps commander declared that they would not give up on clearing the state of criminal groups.
He added that the administration was committed to making sure that citizens, farmers, investors, and commuters could travel throughout the state freely without fear of being attacked by thugs.
Adeleye claimed that the state's security agency chiefs had been instructed by the administration of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to root out offenders who were upsetting the public's tranquilly.
“We want to reassure the good people of Ondo State that Amotekun is intact and we will continue our 24-hours patrol.
“We will continue to track all criminals from the cities to the forest reserves and ensure that travellers are not molested,†he said.
Adeleye further disclosed that in response to the kidnapping event that transpired on Monday, the command had dispatched roughly one hundred personnel to Ekiti State.
“A couple of hours ago, we had an unfortunate situation in Ekiti State and the Ondo State Governor directed that we should move to the state to assist in the security situation.
