Ondo petrol dealer kills himself after killing wife
Sesan Adelabu, a petroleum products dealer located in Akure, the capital of Ondo State, is said to have fatally macheted his wife Bolu Adelabu on Friday at their home in the city's Alagbaka GRA neighbourhood.
Adelabu, whose retail store was named Emirate, was reported to have killed his wife and then killed himself by poisoning himself with what was thought to be an insecticide.
The son of the dead called the Special Protection Unit officer posted to his apartment on Friday night, claiming to have been calling him on the phone multiple times and that he was not returning the calls.
The policeman entered the residence and found Adelabu's lifeless body on the floor of the toilet, his wife's remains on the bed with many matchet wounds, and an empty pesticide bottle on the floor.
Since then, the police have removed Adelabu's and his wife's remains and taken them to the mortuary.
The event was confirmed by a news release issued by SP 'Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, the spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command.
She mentioned that the State Criminal Investigation Department's Homicide Section has been given the order to take up the investigation by Abayomi Oladipo, the State Commissioner of Police.
Omisanya said that an inquiry has started to determine what caused the regrettable situation, and that the area has been blocked off to allow law enforcement to take appropriate action.
As of the time this article was filed, neither of the deceased couple's relatives had commented on the incident.
