Organisations donate air purification tech to children's hospital

The Massey Street Children's Hospital in Lagos will receive D-Orbital Nano Oxide Catalyst Air Purification technology thanks to a collaboration between the Going Green Natural Foundation and Healthy Air.

This ground-breaking method was created to lower hospital-acquired infections and pollution, two main contributors to the high child mortality rates, while also enhancing interior air quality.

The National Planning Coordinator, GGNF, Nancy-Joan Osakwe, said, “We are delighted to team up with Healthy Air to introduce this transformative technology at Massey Children’s Hospital.

According to Osakwe, the fundamental property of D-Orbital Nano Oxide catalysts is their capacity to promote chemical processes by giving reactants an active surface on which to adsorb and go through transformations.

“The arrangement and properties of these catalysts facilitate electron transfer and reactant molecule activation, resulting in the desired chemical reactions,” she added.

Also speaking at the event, the Chief Executive Officer of Healthy Air, Annabelle Johnson said, “We take pride in partnering with GGN Foundation to provide cleaner and safer air to paediatric patients at Massey Hospital. This installation has the potential to reduce respiratory infections and pollution-related complications among infants and children.”

“We hope it sets a precedent for the widespread adoption of our air purification technology in healthcare facilities across Nigeria and beyond,” she added.

A big step forward has been made in the fight against infant and child mortality brought on by airborne infections and pollution in Nigeria with the implementation of the DNO system at Massey Street Children's Hospital.

She stated that both businesses are still dedicated to their goal of making the most vulnerable patients' settings healthier.

In her remarks, the Head of the Medical Units at Massey Street Children’s Hospital, Lawal Adetola, said “On behalf of our entire staff and management at Massey Street Children’s Hospital, we express our sincere gratitude to the Going Green Natural Foundation and Healthy Air for their air purifier donation to our neonatal wards.

“This invaluable contribution promises to enhance our children’s well-being by ensuring they breathe cleaner, natural air,” Adetola added.
